♦ It has come to our attention some readers of the Rowan Free Press make the erroneous assumption that Steve Mensing, Editor of the Rowan Free Press staff are in agreement or are supportive of all the opinions expressed in our letters-to-editor or with videos and articles sometimes shared by non RFP sources. In some instances neither the RFP staff or Steve Mensing support the opinions put forth in our posted Letters-to-the Editor or in videos and articles from outside sources.
Since the early days of the Rowan Free Press we have posted this rejoinder on the bottom of the right hand side of our pages: Any personal views expressed on The Rowan Free Press are the writers’ own and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Rowan Free Press or other contributors.
Steve and some staffers attend various political group and governmental meetings in which we do not hold membership. Steve might be niched as a political moderate with fiscally conservative and socially moderate leanings. Steve spent many years of his life as a Democrat in Philadelphia and in recent years as a Republican in Rowan County. He is more wedded to issues and political pragmatism than the politics associated with certain political labels. He is a strong supporter of transparency, governmental frugality, wise consumerism, free speech, and abiding by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. He has a strong distain for governmental waste, covering over reality to look good, and corruption.
