♦ Thursday morning Casandra Pharr-Bacon, 18, refused to turn over her cell phone when she arrived at school.  Turning in cell phones is part of regular school protocol at Henderson Independent High and are returned to students at the end of the school day.

At the start of school, Resource Officer T. W. Moore called Pharr-Bacon aside after spotting her phone in her pocket.  The student denied having a phone, then became verbally abusive, calling him a “rent-a-cop” and a fusillade of  foul language.  When the officer attempted to arrest the student, she tussled with Moore before they toppled into a stairwell.  The officer was forced to go for his taser.  After a brief lull in Pharr-Bacon assault, which included head-butting and spitting, the officer drew his taser and the student quieted…Not for long.

When escorted out to police car she started another harangue.  At the magistrate’s office the student hit a new decibel level, refused to answer questions, and spat on Moore from the other side of the room.  Yet another struggle ensued when officers there attempted to fit Pharr-Bacon with a spit mask.

Pharr-Bacon was charged with resisting police, disturbing school, as well as malicious conduct by a prisoner.  She is now in the county jail under $3000 bond.

Whew!
