♦ Poll: What can be done with the aging Empire Hotel AKA the “South Main Bat Castle”? What did you believe was best future for the “crown jewel” of the South Main tenderloin? Our longest-running poll is finally closed, and results are posted. Of the thousands who voted, the overwhelming choice was to demolish it (61%) followed by making it a privately-operated prison for Salisbury’s growing criminal element (18%).
