♦To the Editor:
I could not agree more with the recent articles on the issues in the upcoming Salisbury city council election. One of the city’s most glaring problems is not mentioned yet. This problem happened because so many city workers were let go in recent times because the city apparently is going broke. The missing issue is the city’s lack of upkeep. It is horrible in many parts of Salisbury. Drive around the city and see weeds growing high and sidewalks neglected. Many city properties need mowing and weeks go by without leaf pickup. Anyone can see the same mounds of leaves week after week. Grass and weeds growing up around curbs makes Salisbury look abandoned.
The crews on the trash trucks seem to have disappeared overnight. You used to see a driver along with two helpers drive up. Not anymore because the driver does the work of three. The trash truck used to arrive earlier in the morning. Now it shows up sometimes after 11 am. What important city services are going next? Its pathetic.
