Press Release
♦ On Tuesday evening, August 5th, the Salisbury Police Department will participate in the nationally recognized program known as, “National Night Out. This annual event is designed to bring neighbors together within their respective neighborhoods and to also build stronger relationships between those citizens and the police officers who serve them. This annual event is one that our agency looks forward to each year,as we get to meet with many of our citizens at one central location within their own community. We are especially excited about this year’s National Night Out event, as it is the first one since our department has implemented renewed initiatives aimed at strengthening trust and relationships with our citizens. Some of those efforts, in fact, are already being reflected by the number of sites participating in Tuesday’s National Night Out program.
In previous years, we have had approximately eight neighborhoods hosting the event within their community. This year, thanks to the efforts of our new Community Relations Officers (Officer Annice Chunn and Officer Reuben Ijames), the number of neighborhoods with whom our agency has been able to team up with has grown. As a result, a total of thirteen will be participating in the National Night Out events this year. They are:

The Father’s House of Glory 2218 Statesville Blvd. 6 pm – 7:30 pm

Laural Pointe Apartments 100 Laural Pointe Apts 6 pm – 8 pm
Rolling Hills Town Home 315 State Road 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Those citizens residing within these particular neighborhoods are invited to attend their respective events. Each location will receive a visit from a member of the Salisbury Police Department’s command staff, as well as from patrol officers assigned to police their neighborhood. Additionally, the Police Department’s Youth Crime Prevention Officer will be visiting many of the sites, along with “McGruff”, the Crime Dog.
Though I am very excited by the increased number of neighborhoods taking part in the National Night Out program this year, I would love for even more to do so in the future. Any neighborhood which may be interested in doing so, may speak with either Officer Chunn or Officer Ijames by calling the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333.
