Chuck Hughes, Board of Education, Salisbury, N.C.
♦ Again, the Salisbury Post’s reporter missed the mark. Although there were serous concerns when we learned that the 48K Central Office building would not fit “comfortably” in the desired corner of the lot without added expenses or potential purchase of adjacent property, learning of this new issue had little to do with the Central Office per se.
The spark came when some members expressed concern that not everyone was kept up to date or informed about issues related to the Central Office and other board business. The spark burst into flames when some members questioned what they believed to be clandestine meetings between various city officials and “other interested citizens,” daunting emails and the control and authority the defunct City Manager Doug Paris seemed to believe he was entitled in regards the Central Office and recently hired principals. In the end, the emails were heavy on insinuations and light on accusations.
Oh, how we miss Mr. Jim Holt.
