♦ “Mutually Terminated” Doug Paris’s pet project the Centerpiece Project AKA “Needle Park” was scuttled by the City of Salisbury after a Phase I study revealed the probability of contamination. The city did not want another 329 S. Main fiasco and decided to move on. Good sense trumped thoughtless beautification.
There will be no design charettes or festivals. After some initial digging, the “cop lot” was repaved some weeks ago. The arts community will not have to be concerned about the homeless congregating there or that syringes will litter the visionary Centerpiece Project as they do in the walk down fountain park by the East Innes Street Bridge.
