♦ The Economy Inn at 319 Bendix Drive in Salisbury, N.C. was raided on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. by the Salisbury Police and State Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE). Both law enforcement agencies investigated complaints of illegal activity on the premises including narcotic deals, prostitution, robberies, and overdoses. ALE undercover agents made narcotics purchases during the last sixty days with surveillance assistance from the Salisbury Police narcotics unit. The investigation extended to Torbush Road in East Spencer.
Arrested were John Hipps,51,(address unknown), Tricia Weast, 43, (Salisbury), Selina Tanyle, 31, (Granite Quarry), Ricky Lee Hoskins, Jr, 35, (Salisbury) and J. P. Hill, 54, (East Spencer).
Some 52 charges leveled on the group included the sale, possession, trafficking, and delivery of cocaine, possession and sale of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
