♦ The hunt for the Salisbury Cook-out bandit may be drawing to a close. Monday morning Charlotte-Mecklinburg police arrested Decarlos Sifford, 20, after a failed attempted robbery of a North Charlotte Cook-out on the 4300 Sunset Road last Thursday. Sifford, wearing a mask and carrying a pistol, attempted to enter the Cook-out, but was thwarted by an alert employee who shut the door and locked it. The robber fled on foot. Sifford was later arrested on Brenard Avenue in Kannapolis and charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
In July surveillance cameras caught a similar incident at a Kannapolis Cook-out. The Police have not said yet if the two crimes are related or if Sifford is a suspect in the Salisbury Cook-out robbery in early January.
The arrested man appears to operate in an identical modus operandi as the Salisbury Cook-out bandit. The Salisbury Cook-out bandit also tried an early morning entry, brandished a pistol, appeared about the same age, and wore a mask. Similar Cook-out robberies occurred previously in Charlotte, Indian Trail, and Denver, N.C.
