♦ Salisbury Police arrested Antonio Derrill Davis, 23, of Kannapolis in Salisbury’s West End Saturday night after he attempted to flee a traffic stop and lost his shoes running from the scene.
Davis was stopped in a gold Honda CRV for driving with the lights out over his license plate. When Davis pulled into the parking lot of the J.C. Price American Legion Post, he provided a false identity to the officer standing by the CRV’s window.
After the officer returned to his patrol car, Davis scooted out of the CRV and took off sprinting toward the Civic Park Apartments. He cleared a fence and fled into the woods with the officers in full pursuit. Davis, winded and shoeless, soon gave up.
When the officers returned Davis to his vehicle they soon found a still cold “Ice House” beer in his Honda’s console. The police also learned that Davis has several outstanding warrants against him. He was previously charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, burglary, and drug possession in Spencer. On Saturday night in Salisbury, Davis was charged with resisting police, open container, probation violation, and driving with a revoked license.
Davis’s bond was set at $85,000 and he was brought to the Rowan County Detention Center.
