♦ Gerrell McCrae, 31, charged with attempted murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon in Rowan County, is currently being held in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
Last week McCrea was charged with the shooting of Scott Shoaf, 36, during an alleged robbery on Weddington Avenue outside of Landis, N.C. Shoaf was shot twice and wounded when he attempted to evade McCrae. After being transported to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center, Shoaf was soon transferred Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for surgery for a life threatening gunshot wound.
McCrea is also wanted by the Sheriff’s department in Cabarrus County on charges of possession of a firearm by felon and assault. McCrae is the lone suspect in the robbery–shooting.
McCrae was previously held in the Rowan County Detention Center in November 2011.
