♦ This morning the RFP received anonymous tips alleging that drugs were being dealt out of the home where a last evening’s robbery and double homicide at 611 5th Street in Spencer, N.C. While we could not substantiate these claims, we did locate a 2009 article in the Salisbury Post archives showing that Anthony “Tony” Walker was arrested on drug related charges at the same address at 611 5th Street. The article from the October 17th 2009 Salisbury Post: “Mother, Son Arrested on Drug Charges.”
“SPENCER — A mother and son face drug charges after detectives investigated complaints about illegal drug transactions taking place at their home.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, detectives searched the house at 611 Fifth St. Friday morning and found 55 Ecstacy (MDNA) pills, about 2 ounces of marijuana packaged for sale, a 9 mm handgun and more than $2,000 in cash.
Angela Walker White, 39, faces three charges — possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; maintaining a dwelling to keep, store and/or sell a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Antonio Darnell Walker, 24, also faces three charges: possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; possession with intent to sell and deliver Ecstacy; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both mother and son are being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
The search warrant was executed by the Sheriff’s Office’s Special Response Team.”
This afternoon sources in Spencer claim 3 men donning gorilla masks and wearing gloves and camouflage stormed into the house, demanding “tony” walker by name before they shot him in the bedroom. James “Junior” Walker drew his gun before being beaten by a robber’s handgun and shot to death. Tony staggered from the bedroom into the living room and died beside “Junior”.
Investigators believe they have several good leads in the case, yet none good enough to act upon at this point. Investigators maintained the robbery was not a random crime and that the victims were specifically targeted. The investigators hold that robbery was the motive and the victims were not random. They believe there was a specific reason why the victims were targeted, but can’t offer specifics at this time.
