♦ The disappearance of Salisbury resident Joshua Fredrick Wetzler, 37, in June 2009 was solved on October 5th when his skeletal remains and the remains of another victim Tommy Dean Welch, 36, were found buried in shallow graves in the backyard of  Pazuzu Illah Algarad, 35.  Algarad, formerly known as John Lawson, is  a self-proclaimed Satanist and possible serial killer who boasted to friends and family he murdered people and buried them in his backyard in Clemmons, North Carolina.

Joshua Wetzler’s girlfriend and son still reside in Salisbury.

Algarad lived on the 2700 block of Knob Hill Drive near Peace Haven Road.  Forsyth’s County’s Housing and Community Development department condemned the home after a code enforcement officer visited the property October 7th . The home was deemed “unfit for human habitation.”  Mold, trash, and human feces littered the floor.  Algarad’s tongue was surgically forked and his teeth were sharpened to a point.  His Clemmons home was painted with pentagrams.

According to arrest warrants, Algarad murdered Wetzler and Amber Burch, 24, killed Welch.  Alagrad and Amber Burch allegedly assisted each other in burying the bodies.

Back in 2009 deputies  searched Algarad’s backyard, but found nothing at the time.

Pazuzu Illah Algarad, 35, and Amber Nicole Burch, 24, both of Clemmons; and Krystal Nicole Matlock, 28, of Winston-Salem, were arrested on October 5th.  Algarad and Burch, each face a single count of murder and accessory after the fact to murder.  They were held without bond in the Forsyth County Detention Center.

Matlock was charged Oct. 6th with accessory after the fact to murder and held the County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. All three suspects are scheduled for a court appearance on October  23rd.

In 2010, Algarad was charged with accessory after the fact in connection he shooting death of Joseph Emmrick Chandler of Clemmons. Chandler’s remains were found on June 7, 2010, at the Yadkin River Access at Donnaha Park.  Chandler was legally blind.

In June 2012, Algarad was provided a 5-year split sentence in June 2012 including probation.

Convicted in 2010 of misdemeanor assault on a female and sentenced to probation, deputies alleged on May 2010 that Algarad choked his mother until she couldn’t breathe.

According to court documents in the Chandler case, a psychiatric examination determined Algarad showed signs of paranoid schizophrenia, agoraphobia, and manic depression. Court documents concluded Algarad’s ability to stand trial was in question.
