♦ Dick’s Sporting Goods and Hobby Lobby are coming to Rowan County’s Summit Corporate Center south of I-85 on Julian Road. The shopping center will be called “Shoppes at Summit Park”.
Dick’s Sporting Goods and Hobby Lobby are both the top-rated chain retail stores in their sporting goods and hobby store niche. The new Dick’s Sporting Goods and Hobby Lobby, according to site plans, will be parked next to each other.
Construction for these two stores is slated to begin in December and estimates say both will be opened sometime in the fall of 2015.
On Monday the Rowan County Planning Board voted to recommend approval to the Rowan County Board of Commissioners for the coming shopping center. A 5 to 0 commission vote is expected on a shopping center expected to help stem some of Rowan’s retail leakage.
5 other retail stores are expected to fill out the remaining spaces.
