♦Monday evening’s closed-session mediation between the Rowan County Commissioner’s and the Rowan-Salisbury School Board began at 5 PM and recessed at 11 PM. The mediation, overseen by Willis Whichard, will reconvene at a date, time, and location yet to be determined by the two bodies’ attorneys. Commission Chairman Jim Sides told the Rowan Free Press that the evening meeting produced no impasse.
Both the school board and the county are close to reaching an agreement, but need to put it in writing. Since it was a long day for county commissioners they moved for a recess.
