♦ On Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a store packed full of Christmas shoppers, a black male about 6 foot tall in his late 50’s to 60’s, dressed in dark attire and reeking of alcohol stepped up to the K-Mart Jewelry counter with K-Mart’s weekly Ad. For several minutes he took up the time of two sales associates while he carefully examined several rings before requesting to look at a pair of rings valued at $2000 and $8000.
He took his time examining the rings when a golden opportunity appeared. One of the female sales associates went on break. At that point the thief menacingly shoved his hand in his pocket as if he was packing a gun and said in a quiet, but commanding voice to the remaining associate: “Don’t try your luck.”
With $10,000 worth of rings, the thief quietly walked out of the store and into the Salisbury night.
Perhaps some “lucky” lady will be popped the question during this yuletide season, but more than likely not. The two rings will stand a better chance of being fenced or wind up in a pawn shop for E-Z money Salisbury style.
If anyone knows about this robbery they are urged to call the Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
