♦The ninth major issue in November’s upcoming city council election is the very glaring meltdown of city services due to Fibrant’s massive negative impact on the city’s finances. Owing to large cutbacks in city workers, especially noticeable in the police and fire departments, groundskeepers, and trash departments, the city appears to be in major trouble. City properties are overgrown with weeds and knee-high grass. Trash trucks are undermanned and shortages of personnel in water and sewer have many citizens wondering about the current water quality. A visit to just about any city property gives Salisbury the appearance of a city in free fall.
