♦ Salisbury Police Officer, Bill Torrence, a 22 year veteran of the SPD was terminated Friday morning for inappropriate and racially insensitive remarks he made on Facebook concerning protestors in Ferguson, Mo over two weeks ago.
Torrence’s Facebook page was removed since the incident.
Officer Torrence was placed on administrative leave two weeks after community leaders approached Salisbury Police Chief Rory Collins about the Facebook comments.
The Police department determined Torrence’s comments violated the city of Salisbury and police department employee policies regarding appropriate behavior on social media. The comments undermined the efforts the police department makes to strengthen relationships with the community.
