♦ Jeri Furr Simpson, 61, allegedly shot her boyfriend Timothy Hatley, 60, in the face with a revolver during a domestic dispute. The shooting was reported to have taken place at Hatley’s China Grove home on the 4400 block of Highway 152 West on Saturday, December 27th.
Ms. Simpson was charged with felony domestic assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Simpson has a previous record of being charged with breaking and entering in Cabarrus County.
According to Sheriff’s Office reports Simpson provided conflicting stories about what occurred. Later Simpson admitted she shot Hatley during the domestic dispute. A .38 revolver and a .32-caliber pistol were recovered. Both handguns showed evidence of being fired.
Simpson is being held under a $25,000 secured bond at the Rowan County Detention Center.
