♦ Where are the code enforcement priorities in Salisbury, N.C. “The City of Make Believe?” Does the present owner of Bench Warmers, the last remaining “honkey-tonk sports bar” on East Fisher Street AKA Brick Street, have friends down at City Hall? That Tyvek “building wrap”, a stopgap protection put up in mid-June 2013, keeps that crumbling façade from crashing to the street.
More than a few business owners in Downtown Salisbury are miffed by Bench Warmer’s special treatment, but they dare not speak out publicly because they might get the City of Salisbury’s code enforcement knocking on their door with a laundry list of code violations.
