♦ Salisbury Police were called to 417 S. Merritt Ave. on Tuesday evening to a reported disturbance. On their arrival they found Jerry Lynn Beeler, Jr., 42, his clothes soaked with blood as well as hands and face. It appeared he had been drinking. In the dwelling they found a badly battered woman with raspberry bruises around her neck. The woman described being punched and kicked after an argument ensued when Beeler started yelling at her children and the woman told him to stop.
The woman was transported to Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center to receive treatment. Her two children were turned over to DSS until other family members could pick them up.
Beeler was charged with assault by strangulation and assault inflicting serious bodily harm. He is being held without bond at the Rowan County Detention Center.
Beeler has previous record of being charged with larceny, breaking into an ATM, possession of marijuana, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest, and breaking into vending machines.
