♦ Two Granite Quarry men, William Dean Honbarrier, 27, of 117 N. Oak St. and Wesley James Morton, 25, of 817 N. Salisbury Ave. were arrested this past Friday when Granite Quarry-Faith Joint Police Authority investigators served a search warrant on a suspected meth lab at 117 N. Oak St. The Oak Street address was in the crosshairs of a meth investigation for almost a year when investigators were tipped off about a one-pot lab by neighbors of Honbarrier’s N. Oak Street residence. The lab was hauled away at that time, but more recent activity drew attention.
On Friday Honbarrier and Morton, after a lengthy surveillance by law enforcement of the lab house and reported chemical purchases by the suspects at Salisbury pharmacies, were charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacture of methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine, multiple charges of possession of methamphetamine precursors, possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacturing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. Honbarrier was also charged with the possession schedule II substances including Fentanyl and Oxycodone. Removed from the N. Oak Street property lab were a one-pot meth lab, 100 milliliters of meth oil, hydrochloric acid, lithium, filters, ammonium nitrate, and various drug paraphernalia.
At the time of the raid nearby Granite Quarry Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Granite Quarry-Faith Joint Police Authority investigators were assisted by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, the SBI Clandestine Laboratory Response Team, The Salisbury Police Department, the Rowan County Emergency Medical Services, and the Granite Quarry Fire Department (who removed the meth lab).
Honbarrier, under a secured $35,000 bond, and Morton, under a secured $25,000 bond, are both being held at the Rowan County Detention Center in Salisbury, N.C.
The investigation is ongoing. Persons with any information about the investigation are urged to call R.T. Taylor at the Granite Quarry-Faith Joint Police Authority at (704)-279-2952.
