♦ Today the N.C. Local Government Commission (LGC) approved Rowan County’s request to take out a $6.5 million dollar loan to construct the Rowan-Salisbury School System’s new Central Office on the 500 block of North Main Street in Salisbury, N.C. The lender of the $6.5 million dollars is Suntrust Bank who will ask for close to a million dollars in interest.
With the loan approved, the start of demolition and construction is the next step for the Central Office going up at 500 N. Main. The entire project’s current estimate is said to be close to 8 million dollars. Additional monies for the project will be donated by the Robertson Foundation ($875,000) and Salisbury’s Fred Stanback ($150,000). The City of Salisbury donated $500,000 and $150,000 in in-kind Services.
