♦Down yesterday for several hours and almost a full day a few weeks ago, the city’s fiber optic utility “Fibrant” is paying the big price for buying elderly recycled equipment. Apparently even Fibrant’s redundancy (backup) measures are not enough to stop the cascade of outages. Calls to Fibrant went unanswered yesterday.
To make matters worse Fibrant will attempt major repairs on its ailing system on August 28th and August 29th between 12 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. Last year, during similar attempts at repair, Fibrant’s system went down multiple times and for as long as 3 days. This caused a stampede among its limited customers to the city’s far more reliable and less expensive incumbents.
Meanwhile Time Warner Cable and AT&T U-Verse are running smoothly and offering super deals.
