♦ Power outages throughout Rowan County and Salisbury left many thousands without power. E. Spencer, Spencer, Gold Hill, China Grove, South of Rockwell, West of Landis and Salisbury hard hit due to heavy wet snow on the power lines and fallen tree limbs.
Duke Power has all its crews out and is working hard to restore power.
Vehicles are advised to stay off the main roads until late afternoon when more melting has occurred. Very slippery conditions where highways have been cleared. Main highways cleared because of snow melt due to rising temperatures.
Many restaurants and stores closed in Salisbury this afternoon.
An estimated 4 to 8 inches of snow fell throughout the Rowan County in one of the worst snowstorms in recent history.
If you use kerosene or gas powered generators keep them away from flammable materials. During outages many house and building fires are caused by kerosene and gas powered generated.
