♦ In a convention room packed to overflow with people standing in the aisles and the rear of the J. Newton Cohen Room by 8:30 a.m., the Rowan County Republican Party chose their leadership for the next 2 years. Stephen Kidd is the new party chairman. The Nominating Committee’s slate won as well. The final tally was 83 for the Nominating Committee Slate and 47 for the Alternative Slate.
