♦ Monday’s Space Needs Study Unveiling
If you haven’t already read the Rowan County Commission Meeting Agenda for Monday’s 6 p.m. meeting, the most significant item will be the unveiling of the West End Plaza’s “Space Needs Study” by ADW Architects. Tomorrow’s presentation on the county’s space needs will deliver no surprises. The county requires plenty of space as the previous county commissioners noted when they wisely purchased the West End Plaza back in 2013 in hopes of supplying much needed inexpensive space.
Its a given that the Board of Elections and the County Veteran’s Service Office are slated for the West End Plaza and that the Department of Social Services, the Sheriff’s Department, and the County Health Department have major space requirements. At Monday’s presentation more specifics will be known.
At the County Commission’s 2nd meeting in April ADW Architects will unveil the West End Plaza’s “master plan” which will contain suggestions for county government department relocations.
Rumors of an I-85 Exit into Southern Rowan County into Landis/China Grove
The recent rumors about a long required I-85 Exit leading into Landis/China Grove areas quickly proved unfounded after a review of current NC Dot materials and noting that any alleged monies for such a project are tied to a “go nowhere” house bill. Plans for such an exit, required for both highway safety and for the economic development of South Rowan, have long been stymied by self-absorbed factions in the County seat who have greatly curtailed economic growth in Salisbury as well. As a result South Rowan’s economic possibilities remain stunted and retail leakage to other counties continues unabated.
