♦ I recently read one member of Rowan County’s “local delegation” proposed a House Bill that state representatives have a 4 year term instead of a 2 year term. While it might save a representative time, energy, and money on having to campaign every 2 years, it’s a lousy idea for the consumer-voter. Not infrequently we get legislators who don’t pull their weight or switch their chameleon costumes around once they arrive in office. While some elected officials are noble and thoughtful individuals, a few are not. As a voter I’d like the option of being able to “take out the trash” every two years.
If the elected official does a decent job, he or she will go back in most times unless the party they are affiliated with drags them down. 2 years is long enough.
