♦ Salisbury Police believe Jonathan Leonard McCorkle, 40, who led Charlotte Police on a 3 county high-speed chase Friday night, may be the same dedicated gamer who robbed a game console and threated to kill a clerk at the Salisbury Game Stop store on Faith Road.  McCorkle is also wanted by authorities in York County, S.C. in connection with several video game store robberies.

McCorkle was chased Friday by Charlotte Police after they attempted to pull him over and he took off.  During his flight from Charlotte police, McCorkle attempted to kidnap his girlfriend from Ricky J’s Sports Bar near I-85 and Sam Wilson Rd., but the kidnap failed when the girlfriend escaped.  Next McCorkle’s SUV sped through Gaston and Mecklenburg Counties before his vehicle blew out a pair of tires and came to a halt on East Boulevard in Charlotte’s Dilworth section.  McCorkle was charged with multiple traffic offices including a DWI and a flee to elude (felony).

McCorkle faces outstanding warrants from law enforcement in Salisbury, Rock Hill, and Charlotte.  The Salisbury Game Stop robbery occurred back on March 11th.  McCorkle is alleged to have robbed a Kay Jewelers earlier in March.
