♦ Walter Lee Earley, Jr. 36, of 112 John Michael Lane in Salisbury was arrested Sunday for allegedly attempting to stab John Lee Rhinehardt of Concord on Saturday with hunting knife at the home of Miranda Lee Rhinehardt in China Grove.
Having had a scuffle with the law on March 26th, Earley was charged Sunday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill (felony), resist, obstruct, and delay a government official (misdemeanor), and 2nd degree trespassing (misdemeanor). Earley, under a secured $252,000 secured bond, is now in the Rowan County Detention Center.
During Sunday’s arrest several Rowan Sheriff’s Office deputies and a K-9 visited Earley’s home at 112 John Michael Road in Salisbury to serve warrants for Saturday’s incidents. When deputies got no response after knocking and attempting to kick the door in, they began to batter down the front door with a sledge hammer. Within moments Earley opened the door and surrendered without an incident.
