♦ Kayla Leigh Brown, 28, with addresses in Salisbury and Hickory, was arrested Tuesday on the 7600 block of Jones Road in Rowan County for allegedly participating in a May 7th armed robbery of an Iredell County man. Both Brown and Candace Lee Reid, 32, also of Salisbury, allegedly stuck up a man and relieved him of a wallet, prescription pills, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Iredell deputies responded to a call to an apartment on Sharon School Road after the victim informed the deputies he’d just been robbed.
The deputies learned the victim requested his friend assist him in finding a woman with whom he could spend the evening. When the victim met the woman, Brown and Reid accompanied her. Soon the victim brought the trio of women back to his apartment where they discussed how they might obtain some pills. Without warning Brown flashed a handgun, firing two shots into the ceiling. The victim was quickly relieved of his wallet and pills. The 3 women departed.
The trio ditched their vehicle in Hickory near the Deluxe Inn and split up. A short time later Reid surrendered in a wooded area. She was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon (felony), speeding to elude arrest (felony), unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (misdemeanor), and hit-and-run causing property damage. Her secured bond was set at $31,000.
Brown was charged with robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons (felony), weapon-possession by a felon of a firearm (felony), reckless driving, traffic control device violation, hit and run property damage, and driving while license revoked.
Brown received a $15,000 secured bond and was briefly in the Rowan County Detention Center.
