♦ With Salisbury undergoing a wave of significant vandalism with windows being rocked and buildings suffering graffiti attacks, sometime over the weekend Gerry Wood Kia, one of the city’s leading dealerships at 325 S. Jake Alexander had over 50 of its new Kia vehicles “keyed”. Its believed this weekend’s keying may be worst ever perpetrated on an area auto dealership. The vehicles were said to have suffered an estimated $300,000 in combined losses and damages and can no longer be sold as new.
It is unknown how vandals gained entry into the fenced-in lot at Gerry Wood Kia.
For readers unfamiliar with the “keying” form of vandalism, it is the deep gouging or scratching of a vehicle’s paint with either keys, flathead screwdrivers or metal files or chisels.
Gerry Wood Kia is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandals.
If anyone has information about this vandalism incident and the persons behind it, they are urged to call the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-(866)-639-5245.
