♦ Its that time of the year when play-for-pay women, some with few remaining teeth, strut their stuff to pay for crack and meth in the Bury. Johns tool slowly along Long Street hunting for some back lot action out of the prying eyes of street lights. On Wednesday the Salisbury Police showed up in unmarked cars after receiving complaints.
Amy Lauren Gillespie, 32, of Elwood Lane in Salisbury made the mistake of taking a call from an undercover officer and meeting him at the Dairy Queen on West Innes. Soon an alleged “discussion” ensued and she offered sex for $40. Bad move. Gillespie was arrested and charged with conspiring to commit prostitution (misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor) (crack pipe). She was released on a written promise to appear in court.

In another bust on Wednesday morning, Jennifer Ann Konicki, 42, of West Earnhardt Street in East Spencer strolled along North Long Street in Salisbury, allegedly looking for male “companionship”. She approached a vehicle, climbed into the back seat, and offered the two gentlemen a “good time” for services costing between $20 and $30. Then she suggested driving down by ALDI’s warehouse a favorite “lovers lane”. When they arrived, a police car showed up and Konicki was arrested. She was charged with engaging in prostitution (misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor) (crack pipe). Under a $500 secured bond, she is currently in the Rowan County Detention Center.
