♦ As most people are gradually becoming aware in Rowan County and its evil and self-absorbed brother Salisbury when I make an observation or a prediction its almost 99.999% grounded in reality, science, harsh statistics, and cold hard facts. While I’m not claiming to be the Oracle of Delphi or the Burning Bush, I’m the next best thing–I do my homework and I’ll gladly shove it in anyone’s face. Everything I’ve ever said about Salisbury and its statistics has proven 100% true. I embody the “Disturbing Demographic”. Only a certified fool would defy me or label me “negative”. I wear that chubby badge “NEGATIVE” with pride.
Well tomorrow is the big day for Bible believers in Rowan County and for First Amendment Free Speech advocates everywhere. I’m going to make a prediction about the tomorrow’s county commission vote. I very strongly suspect that at least a simple majority of the Rowan County Commissioners will vote to go forward with an appeal on the recent Federal District Court ruling. I believe Mike Caskey and Craig Pierce will not be lonesome in favoring an appeal. I see this prayer issue as truly a free speech First Amendment issue. I look beyond those “scripted” individuals who claimed they felt “uninvited” at the County Commissioner meetings. The Almighty will caste you into the burning depths while I’ll be sitting pretty in the frozen food section of Hell.
As few of you are aware I am not a fundamentalist although a number of my friends are. I like straight shooters of any persuasion. If I am loosely affiliated to any church, I’d probably drop my anchor in a Unitarian-Universalist Church likely the most liberal church in the United States. That was the one I was raised up in. It is the Church of free thinkers like Joseph Priestly and Thomas Jefferson. It is a church where people follow the dictates of their own conscience. Well as you can imagine you could have anyone sitting in their pews who might adhere to anything from “Ethical Culture” to “KJV Christianity”.
I’ve always viewed the prayer issue in Rowan County as purely a first amendment free speech issue.
So tomorrow I’m predicting at least a simple majority of the Rowan County Commissioners will vote to appeal the prayer issue.
