♦ A woman was caught completely by surprise at 7:30 a.m.Thursday when a man attacked her from behind in the Daymark parking lot on Statesville Blvd. and attempted to grab her purse. The woman briefly fought the assailant off and for a few instants regained control of the purse. Then assailant turned tiger, smashing her to ground with an unidentified object that left a wound on her head and swelling.
Stunned by the fury and suddenness of the attack, the woman watched the robber flee in the direction of a nearby apartment complex.
The Salisbury Police responded to the scene and used a K-9 in an attempt to follow the assailant’s track, but soon lost it.
The victim was treated at the scene by Rowan EMS.
Because of the suddenness of the attack the woman could only provide a limited description of the assailant: a black male wearing a hoodie.
