♦ The other day one of my friends back in Rowan county alerted me about the release of “Max” possibly this summer’s family blockbuster release. The friend saw an uncut reviewer’s copy being streamed out of Eastern Europe on the internet. He said the movie contained scenes from last year’s Faith 4th of July parade and other scenes shot around Faith, N.C. He thought the movie was on a par with “Lassie” and “Old Yeller”. That’s saying something.
From what I’m able to piece together from film critics and Wickipedia “Max” is the story of a Marine working dog, a Belgian Malinois, who returns from duty in Afghanistan traumatized by his handler’s death. The script has the dog suffering from the canine equivalent of PTSD. Max is adopted by the fallen Marine’s family and they assist each other in healing from their loss. Sounds like Max could be a heart warmer if not a tearjerker.
“Max” is set for release on June 26th.
