♦ Desjuan Montre Clawson, 24, of the 1200 block of Andrews Street in Salisbury in an alleged attempt to flee from Salisbury Police was struck 3 different times by tasers until he succumbed and was handcuffed on Thursday afternoon.
The Salisbury Police noticed a silver Acura pull up to an empty house on 1100 Butler. When the police pulled up near the vehicle they smell marijuana coming from the car. They asked the driver Desjuan Clawson to step outside the vehicle. Soon a K-9 dog was dispatched to the scene for a through search of the silver Acura. When Clawson was being patted down the officer noticed a plastic baggie in the groin area.
At this point the officer attempted to handcuff Clawson and he began to flee. Another officer tased the suspect. Moments later a 2nd taser was brought into play. Clawson was in flight now. Clawson, headed through the backyard of a Butler Street home and then toward Barbour Street. A 3rd taser barb struck Clawson in the belly and shoulder. Removing the taser barb, Clawson went to the ground where he finally submitted to the police for arrest.
The ground near Clawson yielded powdered cocaine which he attempted to grind and kick into the dirt. The Police allegedly found $900 dollars, 2 grams of reefer, and a gram of coke on Clawson.
Clawson was arrested and charged with resist, obstruct, and delay of a public officer (misdemeanor), possession of Schedule II (cocaine) (felony), possession of schedule IV (marijuana) (misdemeanor), and altering or destroying criminal evidence (felony). Clawson was additionally charged with failure to appear/comply (misdemeanor) from a recent no show.
Placed under a $50,285 secured bond, Clawson is currently in the Rowan County Detention Center.
