♦ In a fire now being declared an arson, a vacant house on 500 North Clay Street and Liberty in Salisbury, N.C. was badly damaged by a blaze on Wednesday morning. The fire was started on the back porch and deck area by an arsonist.
Witnesses at the scene told us flames tore through the roof and smoke billowed through the neighborhood.
The blaze was called in around 2:15 a.m. The Salisbury Fire Department was quick to respond and got the fire under control within a half hour. Additional fire departments and units responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported among the firefighters.
