♦I find it disturbing that one of our elected county commissioners may be involved in alleged ”misuse” of county property and appears to be making public excuses for his deceitful behavior.  Its even more disturbing that a few people in the community blindly support his behavior whether its drinking while driving or helping himself to convenience store wine.   I won’t go there. He paid his debt to society even though the blot on his record remains.

But now we learn once again he’s in the public eye for alleged misuse of county property:  7,000 to over 9,000 color copies.  At 7,211 copies x $.15 (color copies) which amounts to $1081.65 or if it was 9,211 copies x $.15 which amounts to the tidy sum of $1381.65.  That’s larceny in any state in our nation.  This man apparently ran a business on the Rowan County taxpayer’s dime.

It is my sincere desire that our county commissioners send this individual to the legal system where his case may be brought before a judge and jury.

Mr. Todd Paris a Rowan County Attorney is everywhere in Salisbury beating the drum for his city manager son and trying to block the county in their purchase of the Salisbury Mall.  The $3.5 million figure and other things he is saying about Mall are simply gossip at its worst.  Today Mr. Paris got the local bar association to make a resolution against the Mall purchase.  Mr. Paris’s agenda is promoting his son’s downtown Salisbury agenda which does not represent the rest of either Salisbury or the taxpayers of Rowan County.

Let economic development take place in the Mall area.  Let’s let our county save money galore with the Mall purchase.  After all  Jim Sides said publically when all the ink is dry on December 2nd it will be revealed the Mall will cost approximately $1.7 million and not $3.5.

Let Mr. Paris beat the drum for a better plan to save downtown Salisbury, one better than wasting good county money.  Mr. Paris needs to come clean about his motives for blocking the Mall purchase.  He’s afraid he’ll have to drag himself out of his overstuffed leather chair and commute a short distance to the Mall every morning.  Perhaps he should get a chauffer, one deft at following ambulances should the opportunity arise.  Maybe a commute like the rest of us hardworking taxpayers is beneath him and will interfere with his opulent lifestyle.  Can he set up a small office in Clancy Hills Manor?  One cannot blame him for wanting to protect his downtown office investment:
