♦ Claudie Jay Boyd, III, 22, living at 825 Green Street in Salisbury got a surprise visit from an officer from the Department of Probation and Parole and the Salisbury Police. The officers, on a warrantless search, buzzed through Boyd’s cramped living quarters and found digital scales behind a vent as well as a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol and a Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Serial records showed the Smith & Wesson was stolen from a Salisbury vehicle several months back. Also found was a Mason jar containing 10.8 grams of marijuana.
Boyd was charged with possessing stolen goods (misdemeanor), simple possession of a control substance schedule IV (misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
Under a secured $2,500 secured bond, Boyd was detained in the Rowan County Detention Center and later released.
