♦ As many Salisbury citizens have come to know, they have virtually no police patrol out on the streets because there are simply nowhere near enough police. I’m told by law enforcement friends that new interim police chief Capt. Brian Stallings is an honest professional cop who knows the law and doesn’t play old boy games. But one man can’t turn the city’s police force around if it lacks the manpower to take back the streets. It’s beyond me why they are paying out regular pay to a part time “advisor”, but that’s a Salisbury City Hall thing. That money could be far better spent on hiring more police.
One of the loopiest ideas I’ve heard is that some of the so-called Salisbury’s town watches are suggesting its citizens learn the proper use of “pepper spray” and a few “karate moves”. That’s a blood guarantee that you will either get shot, stabbed, or have your head reformatted by a rock. “Pepper spray” and a “karate moves” can not match up with several high-speed slugs from a stolen handgun. If someone tried their luck with pepper spray on a junked up Salisbury criminal they would not hesitate to shoot you. Count on it. The only thing they fear is a fully armed man or woman standing them down and shooting them if they advance. If you want to remain alive on the streets of Salisbury (and in your homes for that matter)–get yourself the training and a permit to conceal carry. It’s the best “police” available in a town that is virtually defenseless and bloated with felons.
Fact: “pepper spray” often lacks the ingredients to do the job its claims to do. There are no certified labs out there checking “pepper spray” to verify its claims. It is no match for a firearm.
Bullets work. So if you want to remain even remotely safe do the concealed carry training, get that permit, and a good handgun with knockdown power. You’ll need it in Salisbury with its 11 unsolved murders and no doubt many more to come. The break-ins, home invasions, street muggings, shootings, and car jacks are non-stop. Many go unreported. Don’t be another statistic.
