♦Rowan County Commissioners, at a special commissioner meeting called at 6 pm, unanimously approved a resolution supporting the construction of an I-85 interchange at Old Beatty Ford Road in South Rowan. The resolution sees the interchange as a great economic development instrument for Southern Rowan County. An interchange at Old Beatty Ford Road in Southern Rowan could lead to a build up of retail and industry in the area and a major increase in jobs.
For years now folks in Southern Rowan County imagined what the area might be like if they had an exchange off of I-85. Everything from a Huntersville array of retail to a “Mega-opolis”. During his successful fall campaign for a seat on the county commission Craig Pierce frequently talked up the immense value of building an I-85 interchange into economically undeveloped Southern Rowan County. His dream is steaming full speed ahead to a reality.
