♦Like many people who have left Salisbury, N.C. for a better quality of life elsewhere, I still keep in contact with a few friends remaining in the area. For months now I have been following what is going on in Salisbury and the county in the Rowan Free Press. Your online presence is a breath of fresh air and informs us about the goings on in a troubled city and elsewhere in the county. It takes guts to speak out when there are those who want to cover everything up. Case in point the recent cover ups of the school system bullying at Erwin Elementary, the area’s unreported gang activity, and more recently another form of bullying where random assaults take place on teens, the elderly. and the homeless–people less likely to talk.. For people who should know better to say these things don’t happen endangers others. Going out at night in Salisbury or even in broad daylight hours can be risky business. Telling people otherwise just to sell your city is putting them in harm’s way.
Yesterday I read the account in the Rowan Free Press by Thu Le where she wrote about the cover ups at Erwin Elementary School and the Rowan-Salisbury Schools where “nothing bad ever happens”. It came as no surprise. After reading Thu Le’s article I found this revealing article in the Court House News that Thu Le may have visited for the background of her eye-opening article.

I never before heard of someone suing the Rowan-Salisbury School’s for $40 million dollars. There’s a lot that gets swept under the carpet in Salisbury and its the reason why people are moving away.
In the future I hope the Rowan Free Press covers alcoholism and drug abuse which is the city’s number one plague.
