ATV Driver Christopher Brian McDonald of Salisbury Charged Saturday in the Tragic Accidental Death of Laura Gorman on Walton Road

♦ Christopher Brian McDonald,34, of the 700 block of Walton Road in Salisbury, was charged Saturday with felony death by vehicle when his all terrain vehicle (ATV) allegedly went off the right hand side of Walton road going West and collided with a metal mail box around 8:40 p.m. Friday. McDonald and his passenger on the 4-wheel ATV Laura Gorman were thrown from the vehicle on impact.
Gorman, his sister-in-law from Lexington, N.C. struck her head on the asphalt. She was airlifted by helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem where she expired Sunday morning

According to N.C. Highway Patrol sources McDonald was allegedly “under the influence” while driving his ATV on Walton Road and this was allegedly the proximate cause of death.

McDonald was arrested Saturday and charged with driving while impaired (misdemeanor) and felony death by vehicle (felony). Later charges were added: reckless driving/wanton disregard (misdemeanor), operating a vehicle without insurance (misdemeanor), drive/allow motor vehicle no registration and expired/no inspection (misdemeanor),

Under a secured $26,500 bond he was being held in the Rowan County Detention Center and later released on bond.
