♦ On November 7th, 2015 around 6 a.m. the Salisbury Police were called to the home of Justin Daryel Poole, 30, and Christina Marie Poole, 24, on 1300 block of Majolica Road on the report of an unresponsive infant. When the police arrived they allegedly found the infant dead and summoned the Rowan County EMS for confirmation the child was already deceased. What the officers also found in home were deplorable, unsafe, and unsanitary conditions–dirty diapers, trash strewn about, food and soiled clothing on the floor, and animal waste.
On Monday the Salisbury Police charged the pooles with 3 counts of child abuse (misdemeanor) and 3 counts of contributing to the delinquency of minor/neglect (misdemeanor).
Back in November, when the police were originally called, the Pooles had two other children living in the home along with the 6 month-old infant. The surviving children were a two year-old and a three year-old who were later removed from the home by the Rowan County Department of Social Services.
The Pooles will not face more serious charges over the death of their infant because a Medical Examiner’s report could not link the death to conditions in the home.
Under a secured $15,000 bond each, the Pooles were detained in the Rowan County Detention Center before they later were released on bond.
