♦ The Senior Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church on 830 Choate Road in Salisbury, Kenneth Darrell Worley, 56, of 700 Foil Street in Granite Quarry, was charged Tuesday with sexual battery (misdemeanor) for allegedly inappropriately fondling a woman back in February. Worley was released on a written promise to appear in court.
According to Police Sources a woman allegedly reported that Worley met her at a local hospital and said he visited her home in order to counsel her. While they were seated a the kitchen table where the two spoke and read from the Bible, the Pastor invited the woman to sit on the couch with him. Soon after they retreated to the couch, the woman alleged Worley began to inappropriately fondle her. At that point the woman ordered the pastor to stop and to leave the house. Worley complied.
Pastor Worley is slated to appear in court on June 6th.
