Grady Edward Austin, Jr., Allegedly a Major Drug Supplier, was Arrested after an Undercover Heroin Sting Thursday in East Rowan

♦ Grady Edward “Eddie” Austin, Jr., 57, of Faith, N.C. and allegedly a major drug supplier, was arrested Thursday evening after an alleged multi-sale undercover heroin sting conducted by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the SBI, the Salisbury Police and other law enforcement agencies over the course of a year. On Thursday officers raided a house on 375 Nazareth Home Road just off Highway 52 in East Rowan. The house down the road from the Saleeby-Fisher YMCA. The case against Austin began after an overdose death occurred in the house back in June 2015. Substantial quantities of black tar and brown tar heroin and meth were allegedly being dealt from the address and the dealing attracted much attention in the neighborhood.

More arrests are expected in the case.

Law enforcement allegedly found 45 grams of heroin on Austin during the Thursday evening raid. Investigators also located several firearms including shotguns and pistols, ammo, additional heroin, over $2,000 in cash, marijuana, used syringes, and scales inside the house.

Austin was charged with multiple counts trafficking heroin or opium (felony) and maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for a controlled substance (felony). Under a secured $2,000,000 bond, Austin is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
