♦ At 5 a.m. Monday a 911 was received from 295 Ellis Loop Road reporting someone was down and needed immediate medical attention. The caller was said to be the alleged murderer Curtis Wayne Trexler. Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Rowan County EMS, and a fire department vehicle were dispatched to the home on Ellis Loop Road where they met with the caller. EMS workers determined the victim Joyce Ann Trexler, 75, and the grandmother of the alleged murderer Curtis Wayne Trexler, had expired. Investigators at the scene early on determined the death was a homicide.
According to law enforcement sources the victim allegedly died from a savage beating.
295 Ellis Loop Road–House on the Left:
The crime scene in front of 295 Ellis Loop Road was cordoned off with yellow tape while investigators spoke with neighbors and developed leads. In the early morning hours the Sheriff’s Office had a suspect in mind: Curtis Wayne Trexler. They would follow that lead to 612 Mocksville avenue (Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center) where they arrested Curtis Wayne Trexler, 31, at 10:57 a.m.. Curtis Wayne Trexler was charged with murder (first degree). Under no bond, he is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
Crime Scene at 295 Ellis Loop Road in Salisbury:
Neighbors informed the RFP that the grandson lived at the house and was a roofer. They said Joyce Trexler was friendly and had a heart of gold.
