♦ An unoccupied home being remodeled on the 1400 block of Pine Ridge Road in China Grove that was heavily damaged by a fire on Thursday is now being called an arson by Rowan County investigators. The fire was reported at 11:15 a.m. Although heavily damaged by the fire and smoke, the structure is said to be salvageable.
The home belonged to Steven Shuffler, 35.
During Thursday’s blaze responders included firefighters from Bostian Heights, Faith, Landis, Locke, South Salisbury and Rowan County EMS. Because of yesterday’s high tempteratures and the heat of the fire the firefighters were forced to take frequent breaks and hydrate.
