Three Men Pleaded Guilty in Salisbury Train Robbery

♦In shades of the old West 3 men pleaded guilty in Federal Court for their alleged involvement in a train robbery last year in Salisbury, N.C.

Altise Bridges, 25 of China Grove, William Johnson, Jr., 20 of Salisbury, and Kenyad Kelly, 19 of Salisbury were accused of armed robbery of a Norfolk Southern Train traveling from Columbia, S.C. to Asheville on April 29th 2012.  Two of the men, said to be masked and carrying a shotgun and a revolver, allegedly boarded the Norfolk Southern Train and entered the engine cab.  Authorities maintain the robbery took place during a crew change near Council Street in Salisbury. The alleged robbers demanded money from the train’s engineer and conducter prior to fleeing the scene.

Altise Bridges and William Johnson, Jr., pleaded guilty to train robbery on December 11th 2013.  The older 2 defendants may face 20 years in prison along with a $250,000 fine as well as 3 years of supervised release.  Kenyad Kelly, who pleaded guilty on December 3rd 2013 to helping to destroy and hide evidence after the fact, could face a 10 year sentence, a fine of $125,00  as well as three years of supervised release. Bridges and Johnson will be sentenced on March 25, 2014. Kelly’s sentence will be delivered on March 19, 2014. The case was investigated by the Salisbury Police, the Norfolk Southern Police, and the FBI.  The Case’s prosecutor was Assistant U.S. Attorney Terry Meinecke in U.S. District Court.
